Easyling release notes December, 2023

Jan 4, 2024 - Easyling.com

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope your holiday season was equally delightful as mine. Aside from the gingerbread house I made, there was a delicious new feature we released in December: experimental support for using GPT as a machine translator engine. Oh and there were a few fixes too. Read the details after the fold.

OpenAI (Chat)GPT

Large Language Models, such as ChatGPT are extremely powerful tools. One such use-case is exploiting the fact that they are fluent in multiple languages. For example, you could prompt ChatGPT as follows:

You are a professional translator, native in French and English, with deep and broad knowledge of SEO optimization. Preserve the tone and style of the original content. Use plain text as output. Don’t explain yourself. Don’t quote your response.

Translate the following text from English to French: Large Language Models, such as ChatGPT are extremely powerful tools. One such use-case is exploiting the fact that they are fluent in multiple languages. For example, you could prompt ChatGPT as follows:

I implore you to try it if you never done so before.

With the update we released this month, it’s now possible to add such prompts with any GPT model and use the result as the translation.

You can try this on the Dashboard under OpenAI GPT (under Third party integrations).

Fixes

The fixes this month include:

  • We fixed an edge case where the JavaScript-based translation engine could enter an infinite loop in case line breaks are manually added as a translation of a segment.
  • OpenAI as an MT engine now handles the XLIFF format as well.
  • Fixed a bug where an extra set of quotes would be displayed on the OpenAI GPT section around the result.
  • The error messages when trying to change your password to an invalid one were clarified.
  • Various small UI/UX fixes.
